Marc was off at an invite-only tactical reenactment this weekend, so I was home alone, sans car, from Friday evening until this afternoon. As much as I missed having him around (I don’t sleep as well – maybe I’ve gotten used to the snoring and the French mumblings), it was nice to have an extended period of time to myself.
For some folks, having the erratic and often opposite schedules that we do would be a strain, but for us, it really works. We’re both very independent people (though I moreso than he), and as such it is nice to each have time alone at home without the other. I wouldn’t want to work opposite shifts every day, but having time every couple days is quite nice for both of us.
I used my time to work on my new advice blog, Kick in the Breeches, and wrote around 4,000 words. I want to have a (small) backlog of posts pre-prepared for when it goes live, and I’m slowly getting there. I’m hoping to have it live sometime this week, and believe me, I’ll link to it when it’s good and ready.
We’re moving into our new place next week, and I am wicked excited. I look forward to a dishwasher that works, taps that aren’t rusty, and a second bathroom that can be dedicated just to the kitties. It will also be nice to have a fresh start, since even now that I have settled in here, I still feel that I’m living in Marc’s apartment, rather than our apartment.
Anyway, that’s the news for now.
