Haunted by the Past

The Reenactor Post stumbled across some amazing images via Warren Ellis’ blog awhile back, and I’ve been meaning to post about it ever since. A Russian named Sergei Larenkov took old WWII era photographs, went back to the precise location at which they were shot, took a new photograph, and then blended the old photo into the new. The results are haunting:

  2. Yeah, I found them such. My grandfather was a combat photographer during WWII and I have sometimes considered going back to photograph the same locations, and then create a side-by-side book with the results. But, this is much cooler.
