Blanketed

March 3, 2009  |  Expat Life, Photography  |

When I went to bed last night it was raining, when I woke up this morning (at 5am, an improvement over yesterday’s 4am) I didn’t check outside.  However, as it began to get a little light (around 6:30), I glanced outside and noticed that everything was covered in snow.  The rain last night must have eventually turned into heavy snow at some point, because there was quite a bit on everything.  It was really beautiful, so I took some photos.  I took a few series, one at 6:30, one at 7, and one at 7:30, from my balcony window and then stitched each set together into a panorama.  Here they are, from latest to earliest:

7:30

7:30 - I love the glow.

7:00 - The town looks like it's under a big blanket.

6:30 - Blue early-dawn sky, with the warm light of the occasional streetlamp.

  1. Wow! You got loads compared to Gangseo-gu, here in the big city–it didn’t even stick. Which, frankly, is just as well, as I am ready for winter to be overwith.

I love the glow in the 7:20 picture as well–good stuff!

  2. You’re learning that light makes just about anything or anywhere beautiful! THAT is what people pay a photographer for!

  3. Because it’s an island, Jindo actually gets quite a bit of snow. Not as much as Seoul, but we have had many days like this, and a few days with 3-4 inches of snow.
