Over the last year or so, I’ve been spending a lot of time working on my horsemanship skills by riding my friend Christiane’s horse, Kalumet. Kal is a Canadian breed, and when I first started riding him, he was rather overweight. Through careful dieting and a more rigorous exercise regimen, Kal has lost something like 250 pounds, and now is quite sleek! To celebrate his improving health, Christiane asked me to do a little photoshoot with Kal, so that she could show off his new look. The two of us had taken some photos of him last year, both while I was riding him and during a photography lesson I gave to Christiane, and the difference is quite noticeable!
I got some really nice shots of Kal during our shoot last weekend, and Christiane got some really great shots of me doing a bit of bareback practice on him as well. Christiane has gotten a few afternoon-long photography lessons from me in the past and her skills have really improved! Her shots of me were really great, so I’ve included both my photos and Christiane’s in the selections below. I’ll have a full gallery up later. For now, these are some of my favourites:
For those interested, here are some before & after shots of Kal. Shots on the left are from last year before he lost weight, and shots on the right are from the recent photoshoot, post-weight loss.
